What are men to rocks and mountains?

Although I like some of her stories, I was never a huge fan of Jane Austen. Just a little too sappy for my liking. But, I do like her take on the outdoors. Particularly this quote, "What are men to rocks and mountains?"

I must say, I do agree. That's why Katie, Hero and I decided to go on a girls trip up into the mountains to see the wonderful, gorgeous fall colors. We were expecting something similar to this:

What we actually got, was this:

Oh well, better luck next year I guess. It was still lots of fun though. We played in the grass...

Hero found a tree just her size...

Katie threatened me with a red tennis ball. Really Katie? After all I have done for you? I practically raised you as my own child! Okay, maybe not. But it was still rude.

We got the new pumpkin flavored drink from Jamba Juice. So tasty. I think they should try making a hot version of it though, for the cold winter nights we have coming up.

Okay, I am going to go off on a tangent here, but I think it is only right. Are there any other Harry Potter fans who wish with all their nerdy hearts that there was actually pumpkin juice and butterbeer in real life? Besides the fact that I wish I could shed this existence and live in the world of Harry Potter, I think it is quite normal for me to really really wish that I could have a butterbeer! I found a recipe for it online, and I think I am going to try it out soon. ANYWAY...

We also found a bridge.

And Hero showed her true demonic nature. I told you guys she was a monster. Now I have proof! Just look at those crazy eyes...

I liked this shot of Hero's little paw prints.

I snapped some shots of Katie with the telephoto lens. Just for fun.

I just love this next photo. Could be my favorite shot of the whole day.

Then we went on a little hike up into the mountains. Well, I thought it was going to be little. I had to sit down once we actually got to the top because I was a-huffin and a-puffin so much. Whew, I am out of shape.

Then I tried to make the monster take some pictures with me. She adamantly refused.

"Nope, instead of taking a nice photo with you, I will turn my head so that it covers your face."

"Hero, if you don't take a nice picture with me then I will never take you to the park again."

Obviously she called my bluff.

But she did let me get a nice one of just her. Little monster.

Then we went hiking off into the woods. I include these because they nicely showcase my mullet-like haircut.

Anyway, it was a fun day. I just wish all of the colorful red leaves would have been on the trees still, instead of on the ground.

Nice! I love the picture of you holding Hero up and the mountain is behind you. I couldn't quite see the mullet haircut you described--maybe I need to blow the picture up to life size. I'm going looking for the butterbeer recipe just because you said you found one.

I love the start to this post! That totally happened to Chris and me the other weekend when we went hiking. I thought it was going to be a sunny day with a slightly cool breeze. No. We pretty much ended up in Antarctica!
