at blogging lately. We've been up to a lot of fun things, but I just haven't been blogging them. Kinda sad.
Well, October is the month for us. Birthdays, the beginning of Autumn here in Vegas, Halloween--it's the best month ever!
Our birthdays were fun, and pretty low key. On mine we went out to dinner at Cafe Rio with my Mom and Bekah. It was yummy, except poor Jeff had about 3 pieces of lettuce from my salad and then had to call it quits due to the extreme diet that he was doing. (I'll have to tell more about that later, 'cause it goes along with the emergency trip to Utah we had to make a few weeks ago.) After dinner we went thrifting at Savers! One of my favorite pastimes! I found some neat things--a cute black dress, a neat green and white shirt from Gap, and a beautiful skirt from Sax Fifth Avenue. I'll have to take a picture of it sometime and put it up here. Every single time I wear it I get compliments on it--my Mom really has an eye for finding neat things. After that we came home and I blew out a candle that was stuck in my cappuccino flavored gelato that Jeff bought for me. YUM. Then I opened presents! I got a bunch of Halloween things that I just love. Some Halloween frames, some Halloween pillows and blankets, some gorgeous witch mugs for tea and pumpkin hot chocolate and some new peach and raspberry flavored tea! I also got a pair of movie tickets, which aren't Halloween themed, but are still awesome. My family knows me very well!
On Jeff's birthday we went out to eat at Chevy's, and lucky Jeffie got to eat to his heart's content. Oooh, their light, flaky, salty chips are soooo good. Then we came back and sang to him and blew out his candles. I got him a new UNLV shirt, which is pretty snazy if I do say so myself! He also got an amazing suede sports coat, a new shirt, and some new ties from his parents. Our parents are seriously too good to us. We like them a lot.
Last weekend Jeff, my Mom and I carved pumpkins! We had a lot of fun talking and laughing together while watching Frequency. Great movie, if you've never had the privilege of seeing it.
This here is a picture of my hairdo. For some reason I have been staying up late watching videos on Youtube of how to do hair. I was pretty proud of this one...especially for someone who is braid inept like myself. You can't see it very well, but my headband is made out of my own braided hair! Fancy, shmancy, I know.
Here's my pumpkin. It took forever, and was actually pretty difficult, but I think I did a pretty good job! My new Dremel pumpkin carving kit that I got for my birthday sure came in handy though! I like that thing!
Jeff's scary skull jack-o-lantern. He said he's never carved a pumpkin before. Didn't he do an awesome job?
On Saturday I had a family Halloween party! Here's the invite I finally sent out to everyone. Hey, a late invite is better than no invite, right?
We cooked up a feast! Holy moly, me and my family were in the kitchen all day long Saturday, and we BARELY got the food ready in time for the party! Mmm, I thought it was quite tasty though, if I do say so myself!
I wish I could have gotten better pictures of the table spread, because it was great! My mom got some spooky labels that we put on bottles, and the lights were turned down low, and there were cobwebs all about, and candles lit everywhere. It was really gorgeous, I was just so rushed to get things ready I didn't have any time to take pictures!
Scary mummy toes. Don't they look disgusting? I'm not a huge fan of sausages or hot dogs so I didn't try any of these, but I heard they were pretty good! They sure looked nasty, I'll tell you what.
Fresh fruit and creme with raspberry puree blood!
My grandma brought these breaded fingers! She even did extra work to make sure the fingernails stuck out! What an awesome grandma she is!
These were possibly my favorite Halloween food decoration...spooky webbed deviled eggs with blue berries and blood. They didn't taste anything like blueberries, and no one ate the berries--they were just for decoration. I think these eggs definitely had the macabre feeling that I was going for though!
My little cheeseball pumpkins. These things were so cute you almost didn't want to eat them. But then you did and they were tasty. So that's good.
And what's a party without fun people?? Everyone dressed up and it was so fun to see what they all came up with!
An adorable astronaut. He was so freaked out when he saw Jeff that he crawled into the folds of my skirt. Poor little guy.
Seriously amazing! I loved going to a bunch of different Savers stores and scouring the isles and racks looking for costume material with Jeff. It was a fun date night!
You can't tell me these aren't the coolest grandparents in the world! Don't they look amazing??
Poor, wretched Hero. We dressed her up in her witch costume, but once that thing goes on she refuses to move. She just sits or lies down in one spot and won't move for the rest of the night. What a baby.
Playing a fun Halloween game!
Cute Bekah in her costume.
How do a Gothic biker and Vampiress make a kitty cat? I guess we'll never know...
The All Hallows Eve Steed clan. Sorry Dad Steed for poking you in the face with my hat in all of the other family pictures. Oops!
Frosty's flakes. So cute!
The Lying witch and the ward-robe. I think they would have definitely won the cleverest costume contest award...if we would have had such a thing. Look at that little Ender candy corn! Have you ever seen something as cute as that??
Except possibly this? Work it Brent. Work it.
It was definitely a fun night. Thanks for coming everyone! We'll definitely have to do it again next year!

This has got to be one of the best blog posts in the whole entire world. Halloween, delicious/frightening looking food, amazing costumes, great family, beautiful decorations... Only one thing is missing... ME!! Why the heck did I not come down?! Grr...
This will happen again next year and I will be there.
LOVE IT!!! I'm so glad that there's an adult (besides myself) that still enjoys all the dressing up and whatnot of Halloween. Next time you do costumes with heavy makeup, give me a call. I would LOVE to do it if you're willing to let me. All my theatrical makeup training goes to waste here...NO ONE IS INTERESTED!!
I have never seen anything more delicious than that picture of that posing fat guy with the "Get Fresh" shirt...
That guy's a hunk...
...and a chunk. Time to start running in the mornings again. :\
You have such a fun family! I love the food, the costumes, and even that one guy posing a little weird on the floor (but, I still think he is a good guy overall.) Cute pic of you and Jeff, too.
Great post, food and costumes are great. Can Jeff make the jalepeno poppers for Christmas Eve?
I was so mad I didn't bring my camera so thanks for sharing some pics. Awesome party you guys! Thanks for laboring away all day for us! Yummy and fun! I was wishing I had stolen some of that food as I was craving it the next day.
