Chancho

A while ago Jeff, Katie and I rescued a dog. He was wandering around the neighborhood one Wednesday evening, while I was at a priest and laurel mutual activity. He was so friendly and super gorgeous.
I kept thinking that he might have been someone's dog, but nobody took him home. So I ran home really quickly, grabbed a leash, and then Jeff, Katie and I went back and made him jump in the back of the car. Katie dubbed him Chancho, and we all agreed it was a perfect name.

We brought him home, gave him some food and water, and played with him for a little bit. After we went inside for about a half an hour, I went back out to check on him and found that he had completely chewed through the leash that we had tied him up with. He was completely free, but had decided to just stay on the towels that we had laid out for him. What a sweetie.

Well, Mom wouldn't let us keep him because he was "big" and a male dog. Plus Hero and Anna Belle kept barking at him and weren't acting too friendly. The next morning we took him down to Lied Animal Shelter and turned him in. It was so so sad. But he was a super sweet guy, and we knew that someone was going to adopt him right away.

And, it turns out, they did. As soon as we got home we checked the shelter's website, and they had posted a picture of him with a short description. A few days later the picture was gone, and since it is a no kill shelter, he definitely got adopted--he was such a pretty dog and had an awesome personality. Anyone would have been lucky to have a dog like him!

So, I would just like to take a minute to remember our little rescue dog--Chancho. We miss you!

I always feel so sorry for wandering dogs. Guess that's why I have that "All Dogs Welcome" sign out front. Both of my dogs were wandering dogs and now they are my babies because nobody claimed them. I'm glad you didn't call me about Chancho or I might have had three dogs now! He's a beauty!:O)

He was a super cute puppy, as long as he wasn't trying to do the nasty... We should have made sure that they kept his name, instead of Pepperoni. I mean seriously?! He just looks like a Chancho.
