San Francisco

Well, we have returned from our amazing week and a couple days vacation! We had an amazing time in San Francisco visiting all the sites and spending time together! After that we went back to Las Vegas, and were able to spend almost a week there with our families. It was such a fun experience and a very relaxing fun time. Jeff really needed it after taking two chemistry classes and a religion class all packed into 8 weeks!

On Friday we went to work in the morning, and then drove home to Las Vegas later in the afternoon. It was a good drive, and Hero was so good in the car! She just sat on my lap and slept practically the whole time! I love her.

On Saturday morning, my Daddie drove Jeff and me to the airport. We were both so excited, because we have never flown anywhere together, especially for a vacation. It was fun for me because I just slept on his shoulder, while he played solitaire on my computer! When we got to the airport in San Francisco, we took the BART to Union Square where our hotel was. It was so cool! I didn't expect San Francisco to have such a big city feel, but it really reminded me a lot of Madrid or New York. Jeff picked an awesome hotel that was located right in the middle of everything! There were so many stores and restaurants surrounding the hotel, and it was right near Chinatown and Little Italy, and just a short bus ride away from Fisherman's Wharf.

The first day we got there we took our stuff the hotel, and spent a little time resting and getting refreshed there. Then we decided to go get tickets for a play that Jeff had seen on the Internet. It was written by this British comedian (can't remember his name) and was about these three different kids and how they dealt with taking exams. So we grabbed the tickets, went across the street to get some pizza, and then went to see the play.
While I was standing in line for the play, I opened the program and looked through it. I was reading a biography about one of the main actors in the play. "So and so grew up in San Francisco and has studied acting for five years. They have done this and this and this... So and so is in the seventh grade and is 12 years old." I was like, "Jeff...all of the people in this play are either in seventh or eighth grade!" Haha, turns out the play was performed in this small room, filled with the kids' parents and family. We were definitely the only ones in there that had no connection to the kids performing. I was laughing silently so hard! BUT the play turned out amazing. It was really funny and the kids did an amazing job. It was fun to do something that was more a part of the community, and less touristy!

Here we are laughing at the situation

After that we walked around Union Square, and then went to Borders and got some hot chocolate while we read cook books! It was a great night.

The next day, after getting breakfast at Jack in the Crack (as Jeff likes to call it) we explored the city. We walked all over the hilly streets! We went to Chinatown and saw all of the crazy things they had there. Then we went to Little Italy and walked the streets there. I loved this part of town, which was filled with tons of little cafes. It really reminded me of France and Italy! We got some paninis for lunch and then went to a bookstore started by one of Jeff's favorite authors, Jack Kerouac.

After that we took a bus to Fisherman's Wharf and explored that area of town. Out of the blue we decided to go to Ripley's Believe it or Not museum. I thought it was going to be totally corny (and it was) but it was also really cool!

When we got out of the museum it was getting dark outside, and man was it cold! I didn't realize that it could be so cold somewhere in the summer, but it was chilly the whole time we were there. Anyway, we heard that we had to try a hot fudge sundae at Giradelli Square, so we walked over there and got one, along with some hot chocolate. Holy cow, it was the best sundae and hot chocolate I have EVER had! It was pretty much a life changing experience!
The next day we went on a bike ride across the Golden Gate Bridge and into a town called Sausalito. Before the bike ride I was expecting a leisurely, nice ride across the bridge. What I actually experienced was something radically different--18.5 miles of pure torture. Haha looking back on it now I can say that it really was a great experience, but while I was actually riding the bike, I wanted to die.
So yeah, that is what we did pretty much ALL day! When we finally got back to the hotel, I fell asleep right away and Jeff watched some of the Olympics. It was a hard, but fun filled day!

Our last day in San Francisco, we were lucky enough to go to Alcatraz. They have an amazing audio tour that takes you throughout the prison. It was just like reading a book, while walking through the setting where the book took place! It was a great experience and I highly recommend it to anyone!

It was a great trip, and I am so glad that Jeff suggested it! It was so fun to just spend all of our time together doing exciting things!
