The things I have to deal with...

That is my beautiful monster.  I go through a lot for this dog, and she is worth it.  But man, does she stress me out.

She has allergies, and as such, often decides to scratch her skin until it is raw and bleeding.  I try to catch her before she gets to that point and put some anti-itch medicine on the spot, but I often don't find it until too late.  At that point, she has given herself a hotspot.

You would think, since these are such common occurrences, that I would have some sort of full proof way to keep her from getting to the hotspots.  Problem is, they are always in some different spot and no matter what, they are extremely difficult to keep covered!  First she had one on her head, then her front foot, then her chest, then her back foot.  Now she has one on her side.

If I don't keep it covered well, then she always finds a way to lick it, which takes off all of the medicine and just makes it worse.

As you can see I tried to fashion some sort of homemade bandanna that goes around her belly.

 Clearly that isn't working.

She is so lucky that I think she is the most beautiful thing in the world.

Then I had the brilliant idea to cut holes in a plastic bag for her legs and tail.  She abhors it.  But, if it keeps her from licking, that's ok with me.

Telling secrets about me.  That's not nice.

Awe, she's cute too.

P. S.  That's my leopard print snuggie that Jeff got me for Christmas.  I slept in it the other night.  Weird, I know.

I don't know why she looks so sad.  She doesn't have to wear plastic bags on her bum.

Sorry monster dog.  Someday you'll forgive me.

Have you tried putting a dog shirt on her? I know some people are against putting clothes on animals, but it might work.

Oh man. She is so beautiful! Poor girl, does she just sit around with the bag on like when she wears clothes or does she still move around?

Maybe a pink leotard would work (if it doesn't embarass her too much.)

Have you tried giving her omega 3 supplements? My mother in law's shih tzu had the same problem. She would lick and scratch until it bled. She now puts about a teaspoon of omega-3 oil on her food and hasn't had a problem since.Hope it works for you
