The dam short film festival

was a huge success!  The theater was simply marvelous.  It was built in 1931 and it has a total Art Deco feel to it.  I loved it.

We saw a set of short films that were all comical in nature, and let me tell you, they did not disappoint!  My favorite was one called Mama Always Told Him.

Here is a synopsis from this website:

George has always suffered from ‘love at first sight’, and falls in love way too quickly .  Moping at the park after being dumped by his girlfriend, George meets the adorably sweet Betty, who’s saving to go to Paris.  Has George finally met “the one”, and will he remember his Mother’s shrewd advice?  MAMA ALWAYS TOLD HIM is a 9 minute comic fable about the nature of love, based on a true story.

Let's just say it involved boogers and love...it's bound to be completely marvelous.

Jeff's favorite was one called Indestructible about a mix tape that this guy makes for his girlfriend.  You can actually see a clip here.  Super funny.

The rest of our stay out in Boulder City was awesome.  We had a delicious dinner of steak and salmon prepared by my lovely grandmother, and then went out for some soft serve at the lovely local McDonalds that has just been renovated.  We ate our Oreo McFlurry under a chandelier (seriously, at McDonalds) and played the newlywed game.  Haha, apparently I don't know Jeff all that well anymore.  After that we went back to my grandparents house and cuddled while I watched Animal Hoarders and Jeff fell asleep.  He did stay up all night the day before studying for a test, so I'm just surprised he made it that far.

Anyway, it was a really fun night.  I'm a fan of this plan a weekly date thing.  Think we'll do it again.

Dang, we missed it! Sounds like it was worth it. I love the Boulder Dam Hotel too, with the art deco suff.
