The Great Experiment

I am, at this moment, attempting a great and marvelous feat.

Will I be successful?  Only time will tell.  Well, time, and the baguette that either does or does not turn out tomorrow.

Yes, that's right folks.  I am attempting to make freshly baked baguettes.  They will either be eaten with ravenous glee and turned into delicious crostinis for my french onion soup, or they will be blocks of grotesquely solid flour-things.

What?  What's that, you say?  But baguettes are some of the cheapest and easiest things to get at the grocery store?  And it really doesn't matter if they are homemade or not, if they are going to get toasted and put into a soup?

I DON'T BUY IT, is my reply to you doubters!  (Well, actually I do buy un-baked baguettes at the store all the time, and they turn out really well.)  But I must play my part in this battle, and I will succeed!

Plus, I really want to use my new Christmas present pizza-stones to bake some delicious and tasty bread.

Did you know that the baguettes that I started making merely 15 minutes ago won't be ready until tomorrow evening?  TOMORROW EVENING!  And that is after hours and hours of kneading and punching and crashing (seriously, that's what it's called) and waiting and kneading and punching and crashing...well, you get the picture.  Ugh, that's a beast.

This better be the best baguette I have ever tasted.

Turn in tomorrow to find out the result of my bready battle!
