Fun things to do

Jeff is studying like a madman for the DAT. Yesterday he went to sleep around 1:00 am (I think--I was already fast asleep) and woke up this morning at around 6:00 to study. I am really proud of him, and I just know he is going to do great!

When he is finally done studying for this horrid test, I have come up with a few things that can occupy our time:

1. I don't know that I have ever felt this urge to go camping. This is seriously not normal for me. But, since I haven't had the chance to go camping in a long time (I was usually forced into it, like it or not, by going to girls camp--yeah it has been a while), I seem to be really missing it. I want to be able to see all of the glittering stars at night, smell the smoke from a wood fire, toast marshmellows, and go on hikes.

The only thing that I used to really dread about camping--besides the bathroom situation--were the mosquitos. I hate hate hate them, but then again who doesn't? Well, it doesn't matter if I go camping or stay here, because I am being eaten alive by mosquitos. I had three HUGE bites on my leg this past week. I am not lying, these things were the size of golf balls, and they were all swollen, red, hard and if you touched them they were hot! Jeff told me that I needed to eat a little more than usual, because I was now eating for four. Not funny. Okay, maybe a little funny.

Anyway, I figured while we were living in some of the most gorgeous camping areas in the country, we should probably go a couple of times before we leave. So, that is on the list.

2. Park City. I have never been here-gasp! But I have heard such marvelous things about it that I decided I must check it out. And I heard that it has an amazing outlet mall. And that there is a Gap there. I am sold.

3. Lagoon. When I think of theme parks I think of Disney Land, Six Flags, etc. I don't usually think of Lagoon in whateverville, Utah. But, I have decided that I want to check it out. Could be fun, right? And I don't think it is as expensive as Disney Land is--seriously a rip off. But a gloriously, wonderful, fantastic rip off.

4. This pool is about four blocks away from our house. I always drive past it and look at it longingly. It reminds me of Wet 'N Wild--except it is like 1/100th of the size of Wet N' Wild. (By the way, there are other slides that are out of the view of this picture...) Anyway, sometimes you just need a fun place to go outside and go swimming. So, even though this pool is probably infested with little kids, it makes the list too.

5. Okay, I don't really have to wait for Jeff to be done studying to do this one, because I have been doing it every Saturday for the past month. I love this little Farmer's Market, which is at the park across the street from our house. It is so fun! There are little stands that sell everything from jewelry to herbs to salsa. My favorite part are the stands that sell homemade food! So far on our many excursions we have had: burritos, tacos, falafel (probably my favorite), grilled chicken with mango sauce, and homemade apple pie!
You know that line from Ever After when the Mom says that the fat daughter is only going to the party for the food? Yeah, I only go to the farmers market for the food.

I love that outlet in Park City! There's also a really yummy mexican restuarant called Baja Cantina that I always go to after our shopping. It's by the Park City Mountain Resort, so it's just a little ways up the road :) Anyways, have fun with all your summer adventures!

Sorry about all the mosquito bites! And sorry...but what Jeff said about eating for 4 is very funny. I'll look forward to followup posts highlighting your post-DAT escapades!

Lagoon is fun, but don't stand up when you ride the roller coaster--somebody died that way. Oh, and be careful on the kiddie roller coaster, somebody died on it, too. Try to go there on Gay Day--really interesting. :o)

Jason and I went to Park City on our honeymoon. Very cute town. Lots to do. Funny enough- we also hit up Lagoon while we were there. Best mini-golf course I have ever played lies within those walls. And no-it's not as expensive as Disneyland. Have fun!
