Harry Potter is definitely one of those few movies. Yes, I did go at midnight last night. Yes Jeff and I were probably the oldest people in the theater, besides the parents who took their little kids to the movie. Yes I did fall asleep before the movie started, and yes Jeff did fall asleep during the movie. No, we did not dress up.
As amazing as the movie was--it was seriously amazing--I think that it may be my last midnight showing, of all time. I am just not cut out for this type of thing. I am just too old. And tired. And I spend 8 hours a day staring at a computer screen. All of these things do not mix well with going to sleep at 3:30 and waking up at 6:45. Not good at all.
But, it was a fun night. Jeff and I tried to sleep before going to the theater, but we just ending up watching Road House on CMT. It was one of those movies that you know is not worth a moment of your time, but that just makes you want to watch it so much more. It was a classic.
After that we went over to the Provo Town Centre mall and had dinner at Red Robins. I just know everyone who worked in that restaurant loved us. We walked in there at around 9:50, when they closed at 10:00. But, the movie theater is right across from the restaurant, so we figured it would be a good way to get some dinner and be close to the theater. And it was tasty. Yum.
Once we finished dinner we walked over to the theater. We got in line at about 10:20, and were at the very back of a huge, long line. Seriously, how early do these people get there? And why? I mean, 2 hours is an excessively long time to wait in line for a movie. And we were at the back of the line!! But all of these people were camped out--they were probably waiting for days. They had their Harry Potter board games, their Harry Potter books, McDonalds...all the staples.
Well, luckily Jeff found two seats for us in the best spot of the theater, even though it was already packed by the time that we entered. It was definitely nice not to have waited in line for an hour, just to get a front row seat and have your neck bent in awkward positions for the three hour movie.
But it was a great movie, and I am thoroughly impressed. There were a few minor hiccups--mainly Harry's horrendous acting skills at the end of the movie as he is crying over Dumbledor's body--but there were more than enough amazing parts to keep me fully satisfied.
Now I just need to remember how much I liked the movie, to keep me from kicking myself right now as I am falling asleep at work...

this is the first time I didn't go at midnight. the thought of dealing with my daughter after going to bed at 3:30 was nauseating. I am glad you liked it. I am so excited. So is Jay. Harry Potter is about the only movie he will even pay to see.
I am guessing he dies ( I havent read the books). I am going to see the movie tonight so now I wont have to wonder whats going to happen.
Lol oh sorry Carli! I figured that most people probably knew by now, so if I said anything I wouldn't ruin it for anyone. Guess not!
I didn't know he died, either, but that's okay. I read the first three books and for some reason just never read the others. I'll probably watch the movie when it comes out on DVD.
It's all good. I knew someone died at the end. It wasnt hard to predict since the trailors are pretty obvious. It was a good movie though. Lana slept through the whole thing. I think I just might read the last 2 books.
I learned that I was too old for Midnight showings when Goblet of Fire came out... I had to be to work 4 hours after the movie ended.
Getting old sucks.
Soo good. That is all I have to say. :)
