I will preface the following post by saying that I hate the word "random" as it is currently used in casual conversation... also, the word "awkward" is really annoying...... I digress....
1-- Deep down, very deep down, deep in the jungles of Texas (thanks Dad), my innermost desire and ambition is to be a chef. A part of me feels like my calling in life is to cook and create beautiful and delicious food for a living. I love food. I love to eat it and I love to make it. I feel like somewhere among the great surplus of pounds that make up my person, there lies a single ounce of artistic ability. And since cheeseburgers speak to me more profoundly than do strategically placed globs of paint, I figure that food would be a good outlet for said ability. Also, I can watch and enjoy anything on the Food Network (anything but that Barefoot Contessa lady....yuck).
2--While on the topic of food, I will mention this little tidbit--When I eat cereal, I will not even begin to consider taking a bite until every flake, cluster, square, bunch, krispie and/or piece of dried fruit has been completely and properly submerged in milk. No exceptions.
3--I have, or rather, I used to have a strange talent. I could have a person say almost any word, and I could pronounce it backwards. It was an incredibly useful skill that was absolutely instrumental in shaping myself into the person I am today.
4--When I think of my childhood, three trademarked products come to mind... Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Pound Puppies, and Hot Wheels. (That Porsche 911 that was red at room temperature and white when warm?? Saweeeet!!!!)
5--I have my brother to thank for this one--I love watching terribly awful movies with ridiculously terrible plots and horrendous acting. These movies will preferably have religious themes depicting the last days. Either that, or they will involve Chuck Norris (or some other actor in the mold of Chuck Norris) laying down the law and messing folks up.
6--Finally, I have read four separate biographies about Jerry Tarkanian, and yet, I've never made it through an entire Charles Dickens novel. I'm not sure what that says about me, but I'm pretty sure it's not a good thing.

awesome post! I can see why you and Jamie get along. And the cooking must be a family talent. after all these years of marriage I discovered Jamie actually has a knack for cooking and makes good food. Trouble is, I'm the one doing the cooking. Cruel world eh?
greatest line : "When I think of my childhood, three trademarked products come to mind... Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Pound Puppies, and Hot Wheels." Pound puppies must have been a little before my time although i do recall something of the sort, but Ninja Turtles and Hot Wheels have a home deep in my heart lol
and after further review Pound Puppies is exactly what i thought it was. I used to have a book that I read but i don't think i ever saw the show... unless we had a taped episode in our drawer of taped movies/shows.
I've just realized you and Johnny would get along great! He's an amazing chef, what boy doesn't like TMNT and Chuck Norris, yes! We used to stay up late just to watch Walker until they took away our Hallmark channel. And though your interest in Tarkanian may be different, it's there - he has to love anyone whos last name ends in "ian" or "yan" (making they armenian where he served his mission). However, I don't think he shares your dislike of words like random and awkward...
Very funny post Jeff!
I would like to amend your #3 fact to say "I could have a person say almost any word, and I could pronounce it backwards immediately and without thought!" It really was (is?) a super cool talent. Thanks for being a good sport about it and performing on demand time and time again.
